Artist statement “I use photography to explore neglected and abandoned worlds, allowing me to create stories about the contradiction of beauty and decay. My subjects have taken on new life through decay. They tell stories of past and present—what once was, what remains, and what new life emerges from the ravages of time and neglect. “
Donna Keen
Artist statement:
Since I was a kid growing up in Whitman, I always had a camera in my hand. I photographed everything: sporting events, my animals or any trip my family went on. I used a film camera until 2007 and have been using Nikon D70 and my Iphone ever since. I love taking pictures of places I have visited, architecture, buildings and houses that have been abandoned and my dog and 2 cats.
Caryn Schneider artist statement: As an outdoor photographer, I look to Nature's conditions to dictate the shot. In the blink of an eye, lighting can change mood, position, and composition. I aim to capture the World just as it is in that very moment.

The Massachusetts South Shore Woodturners a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners was founded with a group of approximately ten individuals in 1996. Today, over 80 woodturners are part of a group that promotes an appreciation of wood through education, demonstrations, and occasions for public display. This exhibition brings together an exciting variety of approaches to form, color, grain, and texture. On display through Sept 19th.
Recognized as "Jacobs" from Jacobs Pond, Jacobs Lane, or the Jacobs Homestead, the Jacobs family was prominent in Norwell. Henry Barton Jacobs, born June 2, 1858, grew up in Norwell and graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1887. He went on to become a physician, educator, world traveler, and advocate for tuberculosis research, motivated by the death of his brother from the disease.
This exhibit was curated by Davis Yarranton, a student at Smith College who interned at the Norwell Historical Society this past summer.
