About the Norwell Public Library
Mission Statement
The Norwell Public Library serves as an educational and recreational resource for all residents of the town. We provide a diverse collection of print, media and electronic materials and services to help members of the community obtain information to meet their educational, professional, and personal needs. Special emphasis is placed on supporting students at all academic levels and on stimulating young children’s interest in and appreciation for reading and learning. We offer an open, accessible and collaborative environment supportive of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Vision Statement
The Norwell Public Library is committed to maintaining a strong professional staff, a high-quality collection of materials, and an attractive, functional building. It is a center for lifelong learning and a community gathering place where the Trustees, staff, and volunteers work to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for contemplation, intellectual stimulation, and friendly discourse. The Library welcomes all and strives to satisfy the needs of patrons of diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is charged with the responsibility of overseeing library services to the community. Members are elected at a rate of two per year for three-year terms. Board meetings are held monthly in the Norwell Public Library Meeting Room. The public is encouraged to attend.

Library Operating Hours
Monday: 10am - 8pm
Tuesday: 10am – 8pm
Wednesday: 10am– 8pm
Thursday: 10am – 5pm
Friday: 10am – 5pm
Saturday: 10am – 5pm
Sunday (Sept- Apr): 1pm – 5pm
Weather-related and other unscheduled closings will be posted on the library's website and social media pages. A message will also be recorded on the Library's telephone answering system.
Norwell Public Library is closed on all major holidays.
Holidays falling on a Sunday shall be celebrated on the following Monday.
Holidays falling on a Saturday shall be celebrated on the preceding Friday.
