Year-Round Activities for Children
It is advisable to check the online Children's Calendar to be sure a program is offered on a particular day.
0-3 years: "Books & Bubbles" is a 20-minute baby and toddler program led by the children’s librarian, featuring nursery rhymes, songs, bounces and … bubbles! Primarily geared to toddlers, older and younger siblings (including babies) are welcome. Following the program, adults are invited to linger for conversation while children play with age-appropriate toys.
Meets many Fridays at 11:30 AM. Occasionally a visiting performer will take the place of Books & Bubbles.
PK/K: "Library Story Time" is a half-hour program for child and adult to attend together. Library Story Time is offered on many Wednesdays at 10:30AM (check Calendar for dates); a coloring or craft activity often follows the program.
Grades 4 - 6: Youth Library Council (YLC) Youth Library Council offers kids in grades 4 through 6 the opportunity to serve their community in a variety of ways. Under the guidance of the children’s librarian, YLC members help out at library programs and offer suggestions for enhancing library services. No qualifications for membership are necessary other than a desire to participate in community service.
All Ages: Professional Performers Free presentations by a wide range of performing artists, including storytellers, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, naturalists, and more, are offered throughout the year, through the generous sponsorship of The Friends of the Norwell Public Library. Registration is usually required for these capacity-limited shows.
